We Believe
that a single action can make a difference in a community
and that collective action can greatly impact our world.
Our Story
In 2018, Cristian Johnston returned to the Aldea Home for Children orphanage --- his home before his adoption in 2000 --- to began a personal quest to enrich the lives of children at the orphanage. The Peruvian Outreach Project (POP) was soon launched and was supported and encouraged by the Orchard Park Friends Meeting in Batavia, NY. Positive results from the work done by Cristian and others at the Aldea orphanage led to the incorporation of the Peruvian Outreach Project (POP) as a non-profit organization in New York State on 2/25/2020 and now holds 501(3)(c) status. Since 1918 POP has upgraded and enhanced Aldea services in multiple ways. In 2023 POP will add a music workshop to the Aldea to continue to enrich the lives of the children living there.
In 2022, POP rented, refurbished, and furnished a house in Tarapoto. Here we established the Hogar Hermilinda Home for Young Women. The Hogar Hermelinda home supports six college-age women that require room, board, and tuition and transportation enabling them to complete college degrees. All six participants are studying to become nurses.
Peruvian Outreach sponsored 2022 Christmas party at Aldea to the delight of the children living there.

Our Mission
Our Mission at The Peruvian Outreach Project is hope and compassion through work that enhances the lives of others.
Through advocacy, partnerships, and outreach activities, the Peruvian Outreach Project (POP) works to enrich the lives of children and young adults living in and near the Aldea Home for Children and the Hogar Hermalinda home for young college women in the San Martin Department of Peru.
Every person can take action to make a change for good.
Your contribution makes a difference in the lives of
50 children living at Aldea orphanage and advances our work to manage
Hogar Hermelinda, a residential and educational support home for young women.
Thank you! ~ POP
